Did I ever smoke? No.

Was I exposed to smoke? Yes, second-hand smoke for about 6 years (ex-husband)

Am I in pain? Some, but not much and not constantly. It’s mostly achy lymph nodes and an occasional (and unidentified) sharp pain in my side.

Did I have symptoms?  Other than the achey lymph nodes and stiff neck and an occasional sharp pain in my abdomen, no. I’d had the achey lymph nodes and neck since early last summer. They were attributed to an infection more than once and antibiotics were prescribed. The abdominal pain started while we were traveling in Jordan. Then in mid- January, weeks after I was diagnosed I began to have a constant cough and started losing my voice. Sheila, we haven’t met but hopefully will sometime soon. I’m a friend of Ken’s from our Sony days together. Will be following your journal with interest. Sounds like you’re an eager fighter and I know attitude will be an important factor. It appears like a lot of advancements have been made in chemo treatments. Sure hope you do not experience much in the way of discomfort. I’ll bet you can whip this. Will keep in touch.

    Dear Sheila,

I am a friend and colleague of Ken’s here at Sony. Sitting here at the office amidst the daily work strife and mental clutter, I’m too poor for words to express what I’d like. So, let me say one thing. Several weeks ago, my wife and I veiwed a cable TV documentary about a courageous young woman who fought back against cancer using holistic methods. These may or may not be for you, but I’m trying an internal visual tranference so that when you and Ken celebrate your happy day in June, you too will be on the road to recovery.

My thoughts are with you both.
